Good morning! It’s a bye week Friday, which means a relatively relaxing football weekend is in front of us. I’ll be watching some football on Sunday, but I won’t be paying super close attention. It’s more just a chance to relax and not think too much about football for one weekend. Then, we dive back into things next week as Seahawks week begins.
The 49ers players are away from the facility through the weekend. The collective bargaining agreement requires that players not work at the facility Thursday through Sunday of a bye week. That rule led to the 49ers almost getting in trouble in their preparation of Jimmy Garoppolo.
General manager John Lynch told KNBR on Thursday that Garoppolo has been working throughout the week with Kyle Shanahan and quarterbacks Rich Scangarello. Lynch had to make sure Garoppolo stayed out of the facility on Thursday, because of the potential for a fine by the league. Garoppolo will work from home the rest of this week. He’s got the iPad with the playbook, I imagine he has plenty of notes from Shanahan and Scangarello, and I could see him getting in some throwing work on the side with some of the 49ers players that don’t have family in the Bay Area and have some free time.
