Good morning. We got a by this weekend, which means I actually can go get some things done that isn’t meticulously studying the San Francisco 49ers. The bye week for me actually lets me prepare Thanksgiving.
Here’s how Thanksgiving works in the Holloway apartment:
1: Make 5 times more food than you expect. You never know when someone will bring a significant other, be super hungry, people RSVPing late etc.
2: Go out of your way to make damn sure NONE of those people show up.
3: Grub.
This year I have a bacon-based stuffing along with a pancetta/brussell sprout salad. I also have a smoked turkey from a local BBQ joint here in Seattle (shout-out to Gabriel’s Fire...sooooo good). I’ll basically spend all day cooking for a couple other people (who have the unfortunate circumstance of being 49ers fans in Seattle)...since I’m apparently good at cooking. Then spend my days playing Donkey Kong Country with friends, Mario Kart, and watching football.
Onto the 49ers, there’s not much really going on. It’s a bye week. All I’m concerned about is my fantasy team surviving. So far that’s not going well given a certain Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback. The one thing concerning me with the 49ers is the development of Jimmy Garoppolo. Sounds like he’s going to take his time learning the playbook. I’m fine with that. There isn’t a quarterback controversy between him and C.J. Beathard. This is giving the future backup game experience before the future starter is ready. If all goes well, that quarterback room will be one of the better ones in the league.
