49ers-Seahawks spread: Look-ahead line in the single digits

The Seahawks are dealing with a host of injuries. Monday Night Football will tell us plenty more.

The San Franisco 49ers host the Seattle Seahawks after the bye week, and while the formal spread has not been issued, we have a look-ahead line to consider. The 49ers are viewed as an 8.5-point underdog at this point, according to our friends at the Bet The Board podcast.

The Seahawks do not play until Monday night, so most lines will not come out until then. In the meantime, the Westgate Superbook offers a look ahead line as a peak at what could be. This is not their formal line, but rather gives us an idea of what they’re thinking might work to draw wagers on both sides.

Monday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons will be a big test for the Seahawks. They lost Richard Sherman to an Achilles injury, and have also placed Kam Chancellor on injured reserve. Add in the previous loss of Cliff Avril, and the vaunted Seahawks defense appears to be a shell of its former self at the moment. Can they produce against a Falcons offense that has a ton of potential, but is inconsistent on occasion?

If the Seahawks put together a strong showing, I could see enough early money come in to push the 49ers-Seahawks line closer to double digits. Last year, the 49ers were an 11.5-point home underdog to the Seahawks in Week 17. Plenty has changed since then, so we’ll see if it’s enough to get this line up to double digits.
