Gobble gobble, jive turkey gobblers; Happy Thanksgiving to Americans and foreign friends alike. May we all end this day fat, happy, amongst loved ones, and hopefully with a Cowboys loss.
CJ Beathard will remain the starter in week 12, contradicting the best guesses of effectively everyone. The coaching staff offered votes of confidence for Solomon Thomas, Joshua Garnett, and even Joe Staley as a cornerstone of the future. The 49ers claimed ex-Patriot, ex-Seahawk Cassius Marsh from waivers, likely to shore up the depth at the Sam linebacker spot.
Shaking the possibility of 0-16 feels really good. As we go into this new challenge, mired in the unfortunate reality of a “quarterback controversy” brewing, held at bay only by an exemplary Beathard performance against a hapless NY Football Giants, I remain unsure how to tread forward. I’d love to see Jimmy Garoppolo earning game time, but Beathard surely earned this start. It awaits to be seen the amount of game time Kyle Shanahan affords Garoppolo this year, especially considering his impending free agency.
