The long bye week is over and the San Francisco 49ers are back in action on Sunday! The 49ers host the Seattle Seahawks, the second matchup of the season for the NFC West foes. The 49ers are coming off their first win of the season, beating the New York Giants prior to the bye. The Seahawks lost this past week on Monday Night Football to the Atlanta Falcons.
I decided to use the 49ers as one of my five SuperContest picks for Week 12. The 49ers are a 6.5-point home underdog, with Seattle’s defensive injuries keeping this line lower than it might otherwise be. But they remain a dangerous opponent as long as Russell Wilson is out there. He was the difference in the first game between these two, scoring a late touchdown to beat the 49ers. However, I am also concerned about Jimmy Graham in the red zone. He will likely match up against Eric Reid. It’s not an ideal matchup, and one the Seahawks will look to exploit.
That being said, the 49ers are as healthy as one can expect for a team with 17 players on injured reserve. And their defensive line in particular is healthy, getting Tank Carradine back. That could be huge against a sometimes porous Seahawks offensive line. I feel like the 49ers could very well spring an upset in this one, but we’ll see.
For the fourth straight season, I am back for the Westgate SuperContest. SB Nation's partners over at Odds Shark are sponsoring my entry again.
