The San Francisco 49ers passing attack has been inconsistent much of the season, but wide receiver Marquise Goodwin has gotten himself on a little bit of a roll recently. Goodwin finished Week 12 with four receptions for 78 receiving yards. This marks the fifth time in seven weeks he has hauled in at least 68 yards.
If you are looking for a late season fantasy football spark at the wide receiver position, Goodwin could be a useful option. He is owned in only 15 percent of leagues, and his value will be something to watch as the 49ers potentially switch from C.J. Beathard to Jimmy Garoppolo.
We don’t know yet if Garoppolo is going to take over, but if he does, it likely represents an upgrade at the quarterback position. Had Pierre Garçon not gotten hurt, it is hard to project what exactly that would have meant for Goodwin. However, he seems to be growing more comfortable in the offense after a bit of a shaky start. There are still some drops, which are concerning, but he is putting together a career, and handily leads the league in yards per reception (21.4 yards). This bodes well the rest of the way, and could be a big deal as the 49ers look to continue building this offense in 2018.
