Colin Kaepernick, Donald Trump have same odds for Time Person of the Year

It’s a fitting dichotomy.

Time magazine will be announcing their 2017 Person of the Year in the coming weeks, and there will certainly be plenty of controversy. It is kind of fitting then that betting odds have Colin Kaepernick and Donald Trump holding the same odds.

Bovada.lv offered up odds on the award, and for the time being, Kaepernick and Trump both have 4/1 odds. French president Emmanuel Macron leads the way at 2/3, followed by the sexual assault/harassment hashtag #MeToo. Kaepernick and Trump are even with Saudi Arabian crown prince Mohammed bin Salman and SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk at 4/1.

Trump took home Person of the Year last year, and there has been some controversy over whether or not Time called him about the award this year. It would be somewhat fitting for Trump and Kaepernick to take home co-person of the year, but I don’t expect that to happen. #MeToo represents a group of people, which is something Time has awarded previously. It has primarily impacted America, but it would make some sense given how high profile it has been in America.

If I were a betting man, which I am, bin Salman might be my pick. Of course, Vladimir Putin would be a heck of a choice as a troll move.
