The San Francisco 49ers will likely be without free safety Adrian Colbert this weekend, as he continues rehabbing his broken thumb. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said on Thursday he will remain limited, and Week 14 looks like the target date to get Colbert back in the lineup.
Colbert broke his thumb just prior to the bye week, and has been sporting a cast since then. He wore the blue non-contact jersey on Wednesday, and will likely continue in it the rest of the week. Colbert said he would be playing now if it were up to him, but the trainers have final saw. Saleh said that it would come down to the trainers deciding how stable the thumb is.
In the meantime, Antone Exum and Dexter McCoil will continue rotating, with Leon Hall competing for some opportunities as well. Saleh did offer a “you never know,” but I think looking ahead to Week 14 seems like the safe bet.
