Jaquiski Tartt likely done for the year with broken arm

The 49ers injured reserve list is growing at a ridiculous rate.

It sounds like the San Francisco 49ers will be adding another starter to their injured reserve list. Safety Jaquiski Tartt was knocked out of Sunday’s game with a wrist injury, and it is likely a season-ender. Matt Maiocco first reported it, and Kyle Shanahan later said it’s a break and he would not be surprised if Tartt went on injured reserve.

That likely means we will see a lot of rookie defensive back Adrian Colbert the rest of the season, assuming he doesn’t get hurt, too. Colbert came to the team as a cornerback but transitioned to safety during the offseason. He has come on as players got hurt, and also played as a third safety on the field. Moving forward, he will likely play free safety and Eric Reid will stick back at strong safety.

The 49ers currently have 15 players on their IR, and Tartt would be 16. Shanahan said the team will run an MRI on Kyle Juszczcyk on Monday to see the status of his injury. Through Sunday’s game, they also lost Trent Taylor, Elijah Lee, and Cole Hikutini. Shanahan will likely have more on the injury report during his Monday press conference.
