The San Francisco 49ers are set to add some depth at the wide receiver position. Louis Murphy is signing with the team, according to his representatives at Universal Sports Management. This is his second stint with the team this year. He signed with the 49ers on July 31, and was released on September 1.
The 49ers lost Pierre Garçon to a season-ending neck injury last week, and moved Aldrick Robinson into the starting lineup on Sunday. The 49ers passing game struggled in part because of drops. The pass catchers dropped five passes, raising their league-leading total to 29.
It is also worth noting that Trent Taylor suffered a rib injury on Sunday. We don’t know his status yet, but Kyle Shanahan will meet with the media at 4:00 p.m. PT today. We’ll find out about Taylor’s ribs, and the general thinking behind this move.
