NFL: Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers

In the middle of a lost season, there is only 1 remaining question left to answer: when will Jimmy Garoppolo start? This Sunday against the New York Giants will not be the game. C.J. Beathard will be given his 4th consecutive start. He has taken a beating in his 1st 3 starts. He has been sacked 14 times and has been hit consistently. If C.J. takes a shot that knocks him out of the game, Jimmy is only backup and he would play. Other than that scenario, Jimmy will not play before the bye week.

The 49ers will likely start Garoppolo some time this season. Even with all the injuries on the team, the 49ers need to get Jimmy on the field to see if he can be their franchise quarterback. They have a big decision in the offseason with a high draft pick that could potentially used on a quarterback or work out a long-term deal with Jimmy. With a couple of weeks to learn Kyle Shanahan’s offense, the game against the Seahawks could be his 1st start.

The team signed former Vikings defensive back Antone Exum. The safety spot is going through a rough season with injuries to Jimmy Ward and Jaquiski Tartt. Eric Reid and Adrian Colbert are the current starting safeties. Tackle Garry Gilliam was placed on injured reserve.
