The San Francisco 49ers win over the Houston Texans means Jimmy Garoppolo remains unbeaten as an NFL starter, and 2-0 as the 49ers starter. Kyle Shanahan has held his cards close to his chest with regard to who will start each week, and Garoppolo appears to be comfortable playing along.
After Sunday’s win, Garoppolo was asked if he was excited to make his first home start next week. Garoppolo said that he doesn’t know yet, and will wait to hear from Shanahan on Monday.
If that is indeed a conversation to be had, I think we all know how it is going to go. Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch have both said Garoppolo would remain the starter, barring poor play or injury. In spite of taking a beating from Jadeveon Clowney, Garoppolo made it through the game. And even with the interception, he put together another strong effort.
It’s safe to say, Jimmy Garoppolo will make his home starting debut next week against the Tennessee Titans.
