The San Francisco 49ers host the Tennessee Titans this week, and as we come down this final stretch of the season, injuries are an issue. The Titans have a couple notable injuries coming out of their Week 14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Head coach Mike Mularkey said on Monday that quarterback Marcus Mariota suffered a knee sprain on Sunday, but he is expected to be back at practice on Wednesday. Mariota played all 60 snaps for the Titans offense, so he could very well get the full practice designation on Wednesday. If he is limited, Matt Cassel would get some of the first team reps.
Left tackle Taylor Lewan suffered a back injury on Sunday, leaving the game after 18 snaps. Dennis Kelly took over in his place. Lewan had an MRI on Monday, and Mularkey said later that he expects the left tackle at practice on Wednesday.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan will meet with the media at 4 p.m. PT today. We’ll get an update on Ahkello Witherspoon, who suffered a knee injury on Sunday, and had an MRI earlier today. The 49ers came away from Sunday’s game in fairly good shape otherwise. Reuben Foster went down at one point, but he just had the wind knocked out of him and did not miss a defensive snap.
