Trent Brown remains out of open portion of 49ers practice

The 49ers might be starting Zane Beadles for a second straight week.

The San Francisco 49ers are wrapping up their second practice of Week 15, and things do not bode well for Trent Brown this week. The 49ers right tackle was not at the open portion of practice. He is dealing with a shoulder injury, and missed practice Wednesday’s practice.

Brown missed the Week 12 game against the Seattle Seahawks due to his shoulder injury, but then played in Week 13 against the Chicago Bears. Last week, he was absent from Wednesday’s practice, but then was limited on Thursday and Friday. He ended up inactive for the Texans game. Missing Wednesday and Thursday practices this week does not bode well for him playing on Sunday.

If Brown is inactive this Sunday, Zane Beadles would likely get the start in his place. Beadles struggled quite a bit last week, with Jadeveon Clowney having a huge day against him. Darrell Williams is an option as well, but given Kyle Shanahan’s comments after the game, it seems likely that Beadles would get the nod.

If Brown misses this weekend’s game, that would only leave two games left. If he does not practice tomorrow, one has to wonder if IR is an option. Cam Inman tweeted that there is no word if that is an option yet, but I’d think it at least needs to be on the radar in case the 49ers need more bodies available.
