The San Francisco 49ers wrap up their 2017 home schedule this Sunday when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars at Levi’s Stadium. The 49ers head into this game having won four of their last five games, and three straight since Jimmy Garoppolo was inserted in the starting lineup.
The significantly improved play has been reflected in betting lines recently. The 49ers opened as a five- or 5.5-point underdog, but early money has dropped the line to 4.5 points, according to Odds Shark. The 49ers are not a favorite, but facing a 10-4 team that is rolling along with arguably the best defense in the NFL, a spread under a touchdown is pretty impressive.
The Jaguars are 10-4, and on the verge of clinching the AFC South. They have earned a playoff berth for the first time since 2007, and have a shot at their first division title since 1999. Their win this past weekend coupled with the Titans loss to the 49ers means Jacksonville clinches the division with a win or Titans loss this weekend.
The 49ers are 7-7 against the spread this season, although it is interesting that they are 2-5 ATS at home, but 5-2 ATS on the road. They face the Jaguars at home and then the Rams on the road to close out the season. The 49ers took a step up in competition with their win over the Titans, but now it gets really real for Jimmy Garoppolo and company.
