Good news from the San Francisco 49ers final practice of the week. Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner returned after missing Wednesday and Thursday’s practices with an ankle injury, and is set to play on Sunday. Buckner was a full participant on Friday, and does not appear on the final injury report. It appears the 49ers wanted to give him a little more rest heading into a huge game.
The other good news is that Adrian Colbert and Aldrick Robinson are both out of the concussion protocol. Both suffered concussions last week, but quickly got over their symptoms. They were full participants on Friday, and are not on the final report.
Tight end Garrett Celek is listed as questionable due to knee and rib issues. Celek was listed as limited all week, and the questionable tag means we likely won’t know for sure until Sunday. Shanahan did not sound overly concerned in mentioning his questionable status, so it seems a decent bet he plays.
Cornerback Greg Mabin has been ruled out as he continues dealing with a calf injury. He was expected to push Dontae Johnson last week, but the calf injury has ended that opportunity for the time being. Johnson will be starting opposite Ahkello Witherspoon on Sunday.
Final injury report, Week 16
Out: CB Greg Mabin (calf)
Questionable: TE Garrett Celek (knee, rib)
