The San Francisco 49ers play host to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the final regular season game at Levi’s Stadium. There will be no playoff games, of course, but the 49ers are hoping to end the season on a high note at home before they hit the road in Week 17. As usual, we’re going to take a look at the potential inactives.
Against the Tennessee Titans, the big question was whether or not Ahkello Witherspoon would be active. He did end up playing, while fellow defensive back Greg Mabin was ruled inactive. The full list of inactives for that game included wide receiver Max McCaffrey, linebacker Pita Taumoepenu, defensive backs Antone Exum Jr. and Mabin and defensive linemen D.J. Jones, Ronald Blair and Leger Douzable.
On the injury front, the only player who is questionable is tight end Garrett Celek. He was a limited participant in practice all week with knee and rib injuries, but smart money is on him being active on Sunday.
Mabin, however, has already been ruled out with a calf injury S he’s our first inactive. From there, it’s mostly just more of the same. There is no reason for Taumoepenu, Exum or Jones to be active, same with Blair and Douzable, unless the 49ers are continuing to shuffle things along the defensive line. Douzable has been a solid performer, but he’s not a rookie and he’s a knock commodity at this point.
So ... really, the inactives should be about the same as they were against the Titans. No reason to change things up. Aldrick Robinson is out of the concussion protocol, and I don’t see McCaffrey being active unless they lose someone like Robinson.
