The San Francisco 49ers are facing their biggest test of the season in the Jacksonville Jaguars, and they got off to a great start. The 49ers drove down the field with precision and scored a touchdown to take a 7-0 lead.
This was a particularly big series for two reasons. It was the 49ers first game-opening touchdown drive since December 11, 2016. Additionally, it was the first touchdown the Jaguars have allowed this season on a game-opening drive. The Jaguars are playing some historically good defense, but the 49ers looked really sharp on their opening drive.
Garoppolo was 5 of 6 for 75 yards on the drive, and executed the quarterback sneak to secure the touchdown. It was his first rushing touchdown. Marquise Goodwin had two receptions for 33 yards, and Kyle Juszczyk had a big 17-yard catch and run to set up Garoppolo’s sneak.
