We don’t need to tell you that Jimmy Garoppolo is having quite the inaugural season with the San Francisco 49ers, but he’s even out there breaking records. Steve Mariucci was on the NFL Network and brought up a record that Garoppolo could break that’s been held since 1999. Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner threw for 1217 yards in his first four starts with the Rams and now Garoppolo holds that record.
Garoppolo threw for 1008 yards in his first three starts for the 49ers and got off to a quick start facing the Jaguars with 113 yards in his first two drives. He finished the half with only 21 yards needed to match Warners record.
In the 49ers second drive of the third quarter, following an interception by K’Waun Williams, Garoppolo led the offense down the field for a touchdown and broke Warner’s record by one yard. He still has more than a quarter to go to build on a record he broke that stood for 18 years.
