The MMQB put out a really great piece about Frank Gore

You should read it.

If you missed it on Christmas, the folks over at Sports Illustrated/The MMQB profiled former San Francisco 49ers and current Indianapolis Colts running back Frank Gore. There are a lot of great quotes from Gore about how he prepares, where his mental state is so late into his career and a whole lot more.

I still hate to see Gore in a uniform other than the 49ers’, to be honest. It hurts as bad or worse than any other team change I’ve ever been witness to in any sport. I think it hurts more because the 49ers prompted the change, not Gore.

Carlos Hyde hasn’t been a breakout player in Gore’s wake, but the 49ers are fine at the position. Gore isn’t running better than he ever has in his career, but he’s still effective, and is still one of the harder backs in the league to tackle. Throughout the years opponents have continually pegged Gore as the toughest running back to bring down.

Anyway, at this point, I’m just rambling. This is an excellent piece with a dozen different good quotes about Gore, an excellent football player and a great guy all around. I’m not going to copy any of the quotes here — you should just go give it a look.

I miss Frank Gore.
