The San Francisco 49ers had everybody available for their first practice of their final game week this season. Not everybody who was available participated though, with Elvis Dumervil and Joe Staley getting a veteran’s day off, which isn’t injury related.
On the injury front, the 49ers listed tight end Garrett Celek, wide receivers Marquise Goodwin and Trent Taylor, linebacker Reuben Foster and safety Adrian Colbert as limited. All are expected to be available for Week 17 against the Los Angeles Rams, barring any setbacks.
Foster is the most notable name, given he was on the bench in the fourth quarter against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Kyle Shanahan said after the game that Foster could have returned to the lineup if necessary. Instead, the team elected to rest him further so he can be as close to 100 percent as possible against the Rams after yet another shoulder stinger.
Foster has left the game with an injury every time he’s played this year, so we’ll see if it happens again.
Greg Mabin, the only player to miss the Jaguars game with an injury, was listed as a full participant in practice with a calf injury. I’d expect him to be active against the Rams just based on how awful Dontae Johnson has performed.
Here is the full Wednesday practice participation report:
Did not participate in practice: DE Elvis Dumervil (not injury related), LT Joe Staley (not injury related)
Limited participation in practice: TE Garrett Celek (knee, rib), WR Marquise Goodwin (back), WR Trent Taylor (shoulder), LB Reuben Foster (neck), S Adrian Colbert (shoulder)
Full participation in practice: TE George Kittle (ankle), CB Greg Mabin (calf), S Eric Reid (knee)
