Well this is deflating. The Los Angeles Rams decided to take the most hated way out of a bitter battle and basically said, “We’re going to the playoffs no matter what, we don’t need to play you.” So on Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers will be playing the Rams’ B-squad.
With the Rams not giving us full power, I hope Kyle Shanahan hangs 70 on them. Why? Because if we got the Rams at full power and could beat them (big if) that would be the most optimistic offseason we could walk into since Kyle Williams fumbled away the NFC Championship game.
Instead, the Rams pulled a Billy Mitchell and decided they don’t want to show up. Hey, I get why they are doing it, it makes perfect sense why they are doing it, and if I was in Sean McVay’s shoes, I’d definitely be doing it, but I’m not, and I’m a homer, so I hate it.
On a related note: This is another reason why no one wants more than 16 games a season. Who wants to see the B-teams out there at the end of the season when playoffs are all but locked up? I don’t.
Hang 70 on them, Kyle, hang 70. Let Jimmy G go into the offseason unbeaten. Of course, if the 49ers struggle against the 2’s...then that’s probably a larger issue...
