The San Francisco 49ers play the Chicago Bears in Week 13 action on Sunday, and as usual, we’re here to talk inactives before the game gets underway.
Last week, the 49ers ruled out defensive linemen Aaron Lynch, Leger Douzable, Pita Taumoepenu and D.J. Jones, defensive back Adrian Colbert, wide receiver Victor Bolden and offensive tackle Trent Brown.
This week, both of Brown and Colbert are listed as questionable on the injury report, and both are considered gametime decisions, along with rookie cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon. But most believe Brown and Colbert will return, while Witherspoon is a bit more unlikely given his injury occurred on Wednesday.
I am personally a big believer in Aaron Lynch and his skillset, but the 49ers clearly do not feel the same way. He was a healthy scratch a week ago and I have seen nothing to indicate that he will be any different this week. Ditto Taumoepenu and Bolden, who have been consistent inactives throughout the season.
So Taumoepenu, Bolden and Lynch are inactive, while Witherspoon seems closer to doubtful than questionable despite the official designation. I see no real reason for the 49ers to activate Douzable or Jones, either, so we could have six of our seven right there. Is Colbert is active, it’s likely we’ll see one of the safeties declared inactive for the game.
