Today, the San Francisco 49ers — a bad team — will take on the Chicago Bears — a bad team — in a game that is only interesting because it represents the first start for Jimmy Garoppolo with his new team. Expectations should be low, but they definitely aren’t, at least as far as fans I see online.
In this case, low expectations means something along the lines of hoping Garoppolo has an efficient day passing with no horrible interceptions and without getting injured. That is the top order of the day, really: nothing else matters. Get him in there, get him out without getting him hurt, and either we get a win or a better shot at the top pick in the NFL Draft.
That said ... the Bears are bad enough and the win over the Giants felt good enough that I’ll be rooting for a win on Sunday. Go 49ers.
