The San Francisco entered Sunday’s slate of games with a wide range of potential landing spots in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The fifth overall pick was possible, as was the 11th overall pick, and everything in between. After all the Sunday games were played, the 49ers wound up tied with the Oakland Raiders at No. 9 overall.

Those teams share a record with the Miami Dolphins, but the 49ers and Raiders are tied with a lower strength of schedule than the Raiders, at .512. Because the 49ers and Raiders are in different conferences, a coin toss after the season will determine who picks ninth and who picks 10th.

After beating the Los Angeles Rams, the 49ers were in line for the 10th overall pick, with a couple more games in their range yet to finish, and then the ninth. They needed until the final game of the regular season, between the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens, before locking in their position. The Bengals won, which ultimately pushed them down.

Obviously, a loss to the Rams would have been best for draft positioning, but everyone in the locker room wanted to win, and that’s what they did. San Francisco beat the Rams, 34-13, and as such, will finish the season with a 6-10 record, five of those wins coming in the final five games.

There are also ties at No. 13 and No. 14 between Washington and the Green Bay Packers, and a tie at 19 and 20 between the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys. Below is the full draft order for the top 20 picks.
