The San Francisco 49ers are working their way toward a Week 17 win over the Los Angeles Rams, but it has come at a cost. Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin took a big hit from Rams cornerback Blake Countess in the second quarter and quickly went down with a concussion. Goodwin has since been taken to the hospital for further observation, although it is being described as precautionary.
Goodwin was going up for a catch, and Countess came in hard with the hit. Goodwin was coming down when Countess hit him directly in the helmet. Countess was flagged for the hit, and he is looking at considerably more discipline for the hit. At the very least he will be fined, but with the Rams playing a playoff game next week, a suspension is not entirely out of the realm of the possible.
The 49ers will travel back to the Bay Area after the game, and we’ll find out more then if Goodwin heads back with them, or spends the night in the hospital.
