49ers installed as slim underdog against Houston Texans in Week 14

The 49ers are getting a low number of points coming off their second win.

The San Francisco 49ers got their second win of the year on Sunday, and it is giving them a boost heading into Week 14 vs. the Houston Texans. The 49ers beat the Chicago Bears 15-14 at Soldier Field, covering the field goal spread with the outright win. The line opened at near five points, and by kickoff, it was down to 2.5 points.

This coming weekend, the 49ers travel to Houston and have been installed as a 1.5-point underdog, according to most sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. The 49ers have not been a favorite all season, and this is the lowest line since they were a 1.5-point underdog in a Week 5 road game against the Indianapolis Colts.

A couple sportsbooks opened the line at a pick ‘em, but have gone to a full point. Money is starting to come in, and coming off a solid Jimmy Garoppolo performance, it will be interesting to see if the line comes down at all. Most people did not see the game, but Garoppolo put up solid numbers, and there is fairly solid buzz around the team. My guess is the line comes down maybe half a point or so by kickoff.

The biggest opening line was the Westgate Superbook, which had the Texans as a three-point favorite. Last week, the Superbook put together its “look-ahead lines,” which are estimations of what the line will be before the previous week’s games are finished. The look-ahead line was Texans -5.5, so they were estimating this significantly higher. They are down to 1.5 points with most everybody else.
