The New York Giants’ season has been a disaster, and on Monday it resulted in the firing of head coach Ben McAdoo and GM Jerry Reese. The firings happened in part because of how they handled the Eli Manning situation, and in part because McAdoo seems to have lost the locker room.
There is now one resolution to these issues. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is taking over as interim head coach, and one of his first actions is to move Eli Manning back into the starting lineup. Geno Smith started this past weekend, with Manning serving as his backup. Manning will return to the starting lineup this Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Giants gave the Oakland Raiders a scare on Sunday, but came up short. That loss moved them ahead of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2018 NFL Draft order, thanks to strength of schedule. As the two teams move forward, Manning would seem to give the Giants a better chance at winning one or two games the rest of the way. They host the Cowboys this Sunday and the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday, then travel to face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16, and close at home against Washington. Could they snag one or two more wins from those games?
