The San Francisco 49ers 15-14 win over the Chicago Bears was due to a complete team effort, but kicker Robbie Gould was the only player to accrue any points on Sunday, including the game-winner in the closing seconds. His five field goal performance has earned him NFC special teams player of the week for Week 13.
Gould’s five field goal performance is the second time this season, and the second time in his career he has converted five field goals. He became the first 49ers player to do that in one season.
Gould has converted 26 of 28 field goals on the season, which leaves him tied for fourth in the NFL with a 92.9 percent conversion rate. You can still vote for him for the Pro Bowl.
Gould’s performance was especially notable given his return to Chicago. He spent 11 seasons with the Bears before they cut him in September 2016. He spent 10 games with the New York Giants, and then signed a two-year deal with the 49ers this offseason. A local Chicago broadcast had some fun with graphics in detailing the result of the 49ers-Bears game.
