Fooch’s update: Owner Jimmy Haslam said Hue Jackson will be head coach in 2018. Good luck with that.
We are a few days removed from the New York Giants decision to fire general manager Jerry Reese and head coach Ben McAdoo, and we now have another big change. The Cleveland Browns have fired executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Browns have been a dumpster fire in recent years, even as they have accumulated high draft picks. They currently hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, as well as the Houston Texans’ first and second round picks from the deal that netted Houston Deshaun Watson. Whomever takes over football operations will have some significant assets with which to work.
The next question is what this means for the future of head coach Hue Jackson. The next person who will run football operations might be fine with Jackson, but might also look to bring in his own coach. Jackson was already on the hot seat, and this move would seem to make that seat even hotter.
