Browns hire former Chiefs GM John Dorsey to replace Sashi Brown

Well, that was quick

NFL: Combine Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Browns really wasted no time turning over the top of their football operations. The team fired Sashi Brown Thursday morning, and announced Thursday night that John Dorsey has been hired as general manager.

The team did not fire Brown until today, but Ian Rapoport reported after the firing that Cleveland had begun the search process well before. Given how quickly they hired Dorsey, I am assuming they covered the Rooney Rule during that process. The Rooney Rule requires at least one minority individual be interviewed for a job when a head coach or senior football operations position opens up. Fooch’s update: Adam Schefter is reporting they already took care of the Rooney Rule requirement.

The Browns are officially off the market, leaving the New York Giants as the only team looking for a GM at the moment. I imagine that will change between now and the Black Monday following the season.
