49ers coaching staff following latest round of hirings

Here’s where the staff stands through three rounds of hirings.

The San Francisco 49ers announced nine new hires on Friday, bringing the coaching staff close to completion. The team still has to announce an offensive line coach, but Broncos assistant John Benton is going to interview for the job. He worked with Shanahan in Houston, and seems a strong bet to get the job.

The staff is likely to add some more assistants to the staff before the season starts, but for the most part, this is what it is going to look like in the fall. As always, if you are looking to get a better handle on the “quality control” jobs, this New York Times article is always a great read. The highlight now is Jim O’Neil’s picture on the top, from his days as New York Jets defensive quality control coach. This ESPN article is another good one.
