Golden Nuggets: Jacob Tamme, Earl Mitchell in the news means it was a quiet weekend

San Francisco 49ers links for Monday, February 20, 2017.

Happy President’s Day! It’s a federal holiday, so I am guessing a decent number of you are enjoying a day off from work. It’s the last major federal holiday until Memorial Day, although Easter often ends up bringing some time off for folks.

It was a pretty quiet weekend for the 49ers, which I can live with. On Saturday, there was a report that the 49ers were going to bring in defensive tackle Earl Mitchell for a visit. On Sunday, there was a report Falcons free agent tight end Jacob Tamme might be interested in a reunion with Kyle Shanahan.

The 2017 NFL Combine gets going a little over a week from now, and that is when we will start to hear more notable free agency rumors. A Mitchell meeting can happen because he was recently released by the Miami Dolphins. The team cannot legally meet with Tamme until March, but his agent will almost assuredly be in Indianapolis for the Combine.

The agent will speak with teams about a variety of topics, and odds are decent he will chat with the 49ers in some form or fashion. Tamme is represented by Sports Trust Advisors, who also represent DeAndre Smelter. Maybe they have a discussion about Smelter and other names pop up. These things happen!

Jacob Tamme would love to stay with Falcons, but 49ers a possibility (ESPN)
