NFL gambling odds for the quarterback trade market

The 49ers are long odds for all four quarterbacks listed.

The NFL quarterback market is going to be an active one next month, and we are already hearing rumblings about player movement. It would appear teams have not gotten into serious discussions, but once the NFL Combine arrives, the rumors and reports should heat up.

In the meantime, the folks at Bovada have put together their market of odds for the quarterbacks more likely to be traded. Jimmy Garoppolo, Tony Romo, and Jay Cutler are all on the trade market at the moment. Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor could also end up on the market. Of that group, Garoppolo is the only one who will either be traded for remain with his team. Romo, Cutler, and Taylor are all candidates to be released if the right deal does not come to fruition.

The 49ers are longer odds for all options. I don’t think they end up with Cutler, but there have been rumblings based on previous John Lynch comments. I think instead we see the 49ers sign some of the veteran free agent depth that will be out there, and potentially wait and see what happens with Kirk Cousins.

I’m a little surprised the Dolphins have such significant odds for Cutler. I presume it is due to his relationship with Adam Gase, but given the contract they gave Ryan Tannehill. They can get out of it with relative ease, but I just don’t see that happening this offseason.

The favorites for each QB otherwise make sense, so time to throw out my sleeper picks that offer some value. I would say Tony Romo to the Houston Texans at 5/1 is a decent bet, with the Bills at 10/1 a deeper sleeper. For Jimmy Garoppolo, the Cleveland Browns at 3/1 is a decent bet, although not exactly a deep sleeper. For Cutler, I’ll go with the New York Jets at 11/4. And how about the Chicago Bears at 4/1 for Tyrod Taylor?
