NFL Scouting Combine 2017: Schedule, TV channel, livestream, events, invited players

New, comments

The 2017 NFL Combine gets going on Tuesday. Here is everything you need to know about the event.

The 2017 NFL Combine is officially upon us. The first draft prospects begin arriving to Indianapolis on Tuesday, with activities scheduled through the weekend at Lucas Oil Stadium, the nearby hospital for medical exams, and the hotel where team officials will interview prospects.

The San Francisco 49ers will be plenty busy with their staff on hand for the event. They have their returning scouts, but the big deal will be the first Combine for new 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, general manager John Lynch, VP of player personnel Adam Peters, and senior personnel executive Martin Mayhew. They all know what this is about, but this is their first opportunity to take part with the 49ers.

The Combine will be a busy week for draft evaluation, but it will also be a busy week preparing for the start of the new league year next week. All 32 teams will have extensive representation on hand, which means face-to-face discussions will happen. We will get advancement on trades, extending one’s own free agents, and figuring out early details with outside free agents. Teams technically cannot speak to outside free agents until next Tuesday, but that won’t stop discussions between teams and agents. Again, with the 49ers new staff, this is a big week for them.

Wednesday and Thursday are big days with coaches and general managers set to meet with the media. Kyle Shanahan will meet with the media at 11:30 a.m. PT on Wednesday, while John Lynch will meet with the media at 8:15 a.m. PT on Thursday. We’ll have transcripts of those interviews, 49ers.com/live will be broadcasting the two 49ers press conferences, and NFL Network will likely broadcast most of the rest as well.

NFL Network will be broadcasting live all week from the NFL Combine on TV and through the NFL Mobile App. Players will meet with the media early in the process and some of that will be covered, as well as the various workouts and on-field drills. Here is what NFL Network’s broadcasting schedule looks like for the week. All times are PACIFIC.
