Continuing on with our second week of Scouting 49ers Scouts - pro day edition, we move on to March 14th workouts, where a few notable prospects impressed yesterday in front of 49ers' scouts. Keep in mind, although it's unlikely to track every pro day (10 scheduled yesterday) representatives from the 49ers will/have attend(ed) throughout the process, we will pass along those visits the team has been reported to be represented.

On Tuesday, March 14th, scouts for the 49ers attended pro days at Northwestern, West Georgia, South Carolina, Liberty, San Jose State, and Richmond.

Northwestern

49ers Regional Scout Steve Rubio was in attendance for Northwestern's pro day (Rubio leading drills in the video below). There are two prospects to keep an eye on in ILB Anthony Walker Jr. and WR Austin Carr. Walker stood by his NFL Scouting Combine numbers and worked out in position drills only. The athletic sideline-to-sideline tackling machine has a great nose for the football, plays with aggression, and does quite well in coverage (former high school WR and DB).

Austin Carr has shown great production at Northwestern, capping his season with 90 catches for 1,247 yards and 12 touchdowns. However, speed was the question with Carr, and running a 4.61 40 at his pro day doesn't answer those questions positively.

West Georgia

Per Tony Pauline, the 49ers met with West Georgia's FB/LB Alex Armah. The two way player impressed Scouts at hand measuring 6-feet-0 at 240 pounds, running a 4.68 40, 34.5" vertical jump, a 10-foot-2 broad jump, a 4.29 20-yard shuttle, a 7.00 3-cone, and competed 26 reps in the bench press. Thanks to NFL Draft Bible's Rick Seritella for providing Armah's interview from the 2017 College Gridiron Showcase seen below.

South Carolina

Scouts for the 49ers were on hand for South Carolina's pro day, and there are three prospects to keep an eye on. T.J. Holloman, a 6-foot-2 1/2, 232 pound linebacker, ran a 4.87 40, a 27.5" vertical jump, a 9-foot-2 broad jump, and completed 23 reps on the bench press.

Edge prospect Darius English (6-foot-5 3/8, 248 pounds) ran a 4.84 40, a 35" vertical jump, a 10-foot-9 broad jump, and completed 19 reps on the bench press. English shows ideal length and is scheme diverse boasting nice agility and speed as a pass rusher, but he's a work in progress in the run game.

K Elliot Fry impressed scouts booming kicks showing off accuracy, strength, and distance. The 6-foot-0, 172 pound placekicker is the all-time leading Gamecock's scorer with 359 points - and is not shy with his performance.

Liberty

Per Josh McMilan - contributor with Colts Authority, the 49ers were in attendance at Liberty's pro day. Two players to keep an eye on are WR Dante' Shells and SS Alpha Jalloh. Alpha Jalloh’s highlight video shown below.

San Jose State

Per Matt Barrows, the 49ers were in attendance at San Jose State's pro day. The somewhat large contingent of 49ers scouts (home-field advantage), likely had their eyes set on two prospects that stood out in FB Shane Smith and TE Billy Freeman.

Shane Smith, a 6-foot-1, 244 pound thumper, ran a 4.77 40, a 37" vertical jump, 10-foot-6 broad jump, a 4.39 20-yard shuttle, a 7.2's 3-come, and impressively completed 36 reps on the bench press. Billy Freeman showed off his speed running a 4.70 40, as well as looking good in drills.

Richmond

Per Tony Pauline, the 49ers have shown interest in Richmond's WR Brian Brown. The 6-foot-2, 205 pound pass catcher ran a 4.49 40 and a leaped a 31.5" vertical jump. Brown finished his season with 81 catches for 1,485 yards and 11 touchdowns.
