The Los Angeles Rams got out of the gates in a hurry in free agency, and they have continued by adding a piece to their defense. On Thursday, they added to their defensive front, signing free agent defensive end Connor Barwin. The San Francisco 49ers had inquired about trading for Barwin, but when nothing got done, the Philadelphia Eagles released him.
Barwin joins a free agency group that includes wide receiver Robert Woods, left tackle Andre Whitworth, and cornerback Kayvon Webster. They franchised Trumaine Johnson, and he remains on the roster amidst trade chatter. It’s not a huge group, but they are some potential upgrades. I’m not sure how Woods will do in place of Kenny Britt, but I do know Whitworth is a big upgrade over Greg Robinson.
We’ll have more on the NFC West in the coming days, but for now Rams fans seem have been grading this group in the B range. I would have expected them to be a little bit busier, and they still have holes to fill, but they’ve made some potentially solid additions.
