Golden Nuggets: 49ers sign Dekoda Watson

Your San Francisco 49ers links for Saturday, March 18th 2017

Good morning. For those of you who participated in the festivities of St. Patrick’s day, I hope you all got home safe.

I had some stuff on the nuggets planned, but nothing was more important than the news byte I came across as I was gathering links: The San Francisco 49ers have signed Dakota Dekoda Watson to a 3-year deal.

Now, don’t get too excited. Watson’s only started 7 games in his seven-year career. This is purely a special teams signing. The good part is, Watson was with the Jaguars when defensive coordinator Robert Saleh was, making him a familiar with the defensive system.

That was in 2014. Since then, Watson has bounced around the league and eventually became a free agent. The contract details aren’t known yet, but the 49ers seem to be grabbing the last few pieces they can from free agency. The draft is coming. In the coming days, we’ll break down Watson’s play here on Niners Nation as well as the contract details, but I can assume both won’t amount to much. Still a familiar in Saleh’s system is great and with only knowing that, I can guess this is a good signing. Onto the links.
