All 32 NFL teams represented at USC Pro Day

The scouts were out in full force in Los Angeles to see the Trojan prospects

The University of Southern California had their Pro Day on Wednesday, and the San Francisco 49ers were represented along with the other 31 NFL teams and one Canadian franchise. Team representatives were out to see Trojan stand outs CB/KR/PR Adorée Jackson, WR Juju Smith-Schuster and OL Zach Banner among others. Only one head coach was in attendance, current Seattle head coach and former USC head coach Pete Carroll. Below, he is seen chatting up Oakland Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie.

A bit later, Carroll spent a good deal of time with current USC head coach Clay Helton and USC Athletic Director Lynn Swann.

The 49ers sent western regional scout Reggie Cobb who was named NFC Scout of the Year by the Fritz Pollard Alliance. He is the gentleman in the center of the picture below as he watched the offensive line drills.

Media was not allowed to see the ‘events’ that occurred inside; the bench and the vertical and long jumps. Players and scouts spilled out onto the field shortly after at about 10 a.m.

Lesser known WR De’Quan Hampton showed remarkable measurables with a vertical of 41.5 inches, a broad jump of 11 feet, and 21 reps on the bench. Those statistics would have put him at or near the top of each category at the combine. You can see all of the results, including the 40 yard dash here.

The immeasurables are really what the scouts are looking for at a school’s pro day, so here is what I noticed. Smith-Schuster is a fluid receiver who did not let a ball drop during the drills. He brings speed and athleticism to whatever he does on the field.

Jackson is kick return/punt return specialist which could move him up in the draft. He averages 12.6 yards per return and scored 8 touchdowns off of returns during his collegiate career, 4 off of kick offs and 4 off of punt returns.
