The Cleveland Browns have been busy on Thursday, and it includes adding a familiar name. Field Yates is reporting the Browns have claimed center Marcus Martin.
The 49ers waived Martin on Wednesday. The team spent a third round pick on him back in 2014, and while he never materialized into a solid center, he did get plenty of opportunities. Martin took over at center after Daniel Kilgore was lost for the season. He started 14 games in 2015, and when it became clear he was not the answer, he was benched. He played in five games last season, starting two.
The Browns have already invested heavily this offseason in their offensive line. Martin will be competing for a backup role, and is a cheap roster cut if he does not pan out. The Browns have top waiver priority, so if you think someone is worth a flier, why not grab him?
