The San Francisco 49ers offensive overhaul continues with another wide receiver who has history with Kyle Shanahan. The team announced the signings of WR Pierre Garcon and Marquise Goodwin, and now Mike Garafolo is reporting the team will sign wide receiver Aldrick Robinson to a two-year deal worth up to $6 million.
Robinson played for Shanahan last season in Atlanta, catching 20 passes for 323 yards and two touchdowns. He sprained his knee in 2015 and missed all of the season. Prior to that he spent three years in Washington, two of which were with Shanahan. He had 18 receptions for 365 yards in 2013, and 11 for 237 in 2012.
Robinson is not a guy with huge expectations, but he is another player who knows what Kyle Shanahan wants in his offense. The 49ers offense will have plenty of questions in 2017, but Shanahan is bringing in guys who can put something together and create some semblance of consistency. It likely won’t be consistently great, but as the team builds for the future, it’s a step in the right direction.
