Golden Nuggets: Offseason Program Begins

The San Francisco 49ers reported for the start of their offseason program on Monday. All the players reported to the start of the program, which will consist of strength and conditioning for the 1st couple of weeks. While one schedule started on Monday, another one was released. The preseason schedule was released and the 49ers will start on the road in Kansas City. Following the KC game, they come home to take on the Denver Broncos before heading out to Minnesota and then finishing off against the Los Angeles Rams at home. For the 6th straight year, the 49ers will not play the Raiders in the preseason.

The biggest story out of the 1st day of the offseason program was regarding a jersey number. New 49ers RB Tim Hightower was issued #21. He immediately knew that #21 was Frank Gore’s number and made the switch to #26. He acknowledged the mistake in an Instagram post. Frank Gore’s number could be a retired number at some point in the future.

On Monday, Kyle Shanahan mentioned that he worked out Mitch Trubisky last week at Chapel Hill. Mitch, who is one of the top QBs in the draft, threw passes to his favorite receiver at North Carolina during the workout. Kyle will also host another QB this week in Clemson’s Deshaun Watson. The 49ers will draft a QB in the draft, but the player they chose is still up for debate.
