NFL confirms schedule release Thursday, 5 p.m. PT

Will the 49ers land more than just TNF for primetime?

The NFL confirmed the news that the regular season schedule will be released this Thursday, April 20, at 5 p.m. PT. Last week, Detroit Lions team president Rod Wood spilled the beans last week, and this serves as confirmation.

We know the 49ers will play a Thursday Night Football game, but we don’t know yet about any other potential prime time games. The past two years they’ve played the late Monday Night Football game Week 1, only to have to travel to the east coast to face one of the teams that played the earlier Thursday game. That won’t happen this year. The New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs will open the season that Thursday, and neither is on the 49ers schedule.

Here is a full list of the 49ers opponents. Do you see the 49ers getting more than just TNF for primetime? They have a new head coach and GM that bring a bit more of a high profile look. And yet, nothing really jumps out at me.

Home: Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks
