49ers schedule rumors: Facing Carolina Panthers in season opener, Seattle Seahawks in Week 2

The 49ers schedule is slowly coming together.

The 2017 NFL schedule will be released in just a few hours, but we already have some information about the 49ers slate of games. Matt Barrows is reporting the 49ers will host the Carolina Panthers in Week 1, and then travel to face the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2. Mike Francesa was first to report (since confirmed by others) that the 49ers will host the New York Giants in Week 10.

Fooch’s update: The 49ers will travel to face the Chicago Bears in Week 13, per Kevin Kaduk

Fooch’s update: The 49ers will face the Los Angeles Rams at home on Week 3 Thursday Night Football.

We don’t know the rest of the schedule yet, but we do know the 49ers will not be facing the Panthers in the late Week 1 Monday Night Football game. The 49ers have played that game each of the past two years, but this year the Denver Broncos will host the Los Angeles Chargers in that game. Another report has the Minnesota Vikings hosting the New Orleans Saints in the earlier MNF game.

The 49ers will have a Thursday Night Football game on their schedule, but other than that, it is hard to see many options for prime time games. I could see them scoring maybe one more, but not much beyond that in this first year of Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch.
