Peter King mock draft: 49ers through Chargers all want to trade down

He goes with the herd, but thinks things could change.

The 2017 NFL draft is three days away, and the first hour could get wild. The San Francisco 49ers have indicated they are open to trading their pick, and Peter King has heard that the five teams after the 49ers are all interested in dealing down as well. That means the 49ers, Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, New York Jets, and Los Angeles Chargers are all in play to potentially do a deal.

King released his one 2017 NFL mock draft of the year in the article linked above, and he has the Browns moving up to the Jets pick at No. 6 to get their quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky. King has the Browns giving up picks 12, 33, and 181 to make the move.

King goes with the pack for his 49ers pick, selecting Stanford defensive end Solomon Thomas. In his analysis, he says, “Not a position of great need, but a building block who will be solid inside and outside.”

King did note that given how the 49ers have done a good not telegraphing what they will do, he’s not so sure Thomas will go at No. 2. I’m not sure why he then decided to mock Thomas to the 49ers, but King is part of the pack, so I guess that’s to be expected. I don’t see Thomas happening there, but the mock drafts continue to push that narrative.
