2017 NFL Draft results: What quarterbacks are going where

Tracking this year’s quarterback draft results.

The 2017 NFL Draft is officially underway, and there is a good chance the San Francisco 49ers invest in at least one quarterback. They did not spend their top pick on the position, which was about what most of us expected. My guess is we see the 49ers draft a QB around the third or fourth round, and then add at least one through undrafted free agency.

While we wait to see when the 49ers grab a quarterback, I thought it would be useful to keep an eye on where quarterbacks are going over the next three days. There are a lot of questions surrounding this year’s QB class, but that won’t stop people from investing serious draft capital in the position.

The first quarterback off the board was Mitchell Trubisky. It was an expected pick, but the Chicago Bears really wanted him. They traded a third and a fourth, and then a 2018 third to the 49ers to climb from No. 3 to No. 2. I

The second quarterback off the board was Patrick Mahomes. The Kansas City Chiefs made a big move, trading their first and third this year, plus their first round pick in 2018 to swap picks with the Bills. The question is how soon he replaces Alex Smith.

The third quarterback off the board was DeShaun Watson. The Houston Texans made a big move, trading up from No. 25 to No. 12 to draft Watson. Considering Tom Savage was their starter heading into the draft, this is not surprising.

The fourth quarterback off the board was DeShone Kizer. The Cleveland Browns spent pick No. 52 on him. He will compete with Cody Kessler, Kevin Hogan, and Brock Osweiler in that depressing depth chart.
