NFL trade rumors: Cleveland Browns trying to trade for QB Kirk Cousins

Or is it a smokescreen?

The 2017 NFL draft might be just about set to break! NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport tweeted this evening that the Cleveland Browns are in contact with Washington trying to trade for quarterback Kirk Cousins.

The San Francisco 49ers have been regularly connected to Cousins this offseason because of Kyle Shanahan’s work with him in Washington. The Browns badly need a quarterback for the future, and after missing out on Mitchell Trubisky, it seems like they’re going to try another bold move.

Cousins signed his franchise tag tender, and any deal would likely require a first round pick. There had been talk Cleveland wanted to move up from pick No. 12, so giving up a first to do that vs. giving up a first from Cousins is workable.
