The San Francisco 49ers made a great move on day one of the 2017 NFL draft in their trade with the Chicago Bears. They moved down one spot, landing two third round picks and a fourth round pick in the process. More importantly, they landed Stanford defensive end Solomon Thomas, who was seemingly the guy they wanted all along.
The 49ers social media team does some fun stuff, and it’s safe to say they had some fun in their tweet about the 49ers Solomon Thomas pick. They posted this tweet, showing Thomas chasing down Mitchell Trubisky at the Sun Bowl.
More than likely, they had this and several other tweets ready. But given that the Bears traded up to grab Trubisky, I am going to my grave thinking they were trying to troll the Bears. And if not the Bears, then maybe all the media falling for the rumors that they were considering Trubisky at No. 2. Either way, this is just a fantastic piece of social media work.
Following a trade with the Bears, the #49ers selected Stanford DL Solomon Thomas with the 3rd overall pick.
