GM John Lynch spoke about his 3rd round pick, CB Ahkello Witherspoon. A local kid from Sacramento who played for Colorado, the critique of his game came down to his lack of tackling. Lynch, who was one of the better tacklers when he was in the league, said he made sure that Witherspoon knew that was an area that needed improving and Ahkello will work to improve that part of his game. He has good skills and size for a cornerback. The 49ers will hope they drafted someone who can become a playmaker on the defense.
A member of the San Francisco 49ers family passed away on Saturday. Len Rodhe, who was 79, was a 15 year member of the 49ers. He played from 1960-1974 and he shares the 49ers franchise record for most consecutive games with 208 straight. In 1970, Len made the NFL Pro Bowl and helped the 49ers win their 1st division title. He was part of an offensive line that allowed only 8 sacks on John Brodie during Brodie’s MVP season.
