This is probably the most random thing I will come across this offseason. Someone passed along this tweet from Sugarfire Smokehouse in St. Louis. They created a version of a Reuben sandwich, and they decided to name it after new San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster.

There is so much to unpack from what is a hamburger version of a sort-of Reuben sandwich. Personally, I’m not a fan of sauerkraut, but somehow I feel like the combination of all these flavors would allow me to look past the sauerkraut.
When I first saw the tweet, I was not sure if it was named after the 49ers rookie linebacker. After all, it is a St. Louis restaurant. I shot them a tweet, and they offered a response. They’re pissed off Rams fans, and they name their Reuben-related sandwiches after famous Reubens.
@NinersNation we name anything Reuben sandwich related after famous Reubens + we still like football even though we can't stand the rams

It’s a shame the 49ers will not be able to travel to St. Louis anymore for a matchup with the Rams, because then Reuben Foster could try the sandwich named in his honor. Of course, I imagine we can find another way to get a sandwich named after him. Ike’s Place in San Francisco names sandwiches after local celebrities. Once Foster is able to establish himself, maybe Ike’s will be prepared to name a sandwich after him.
There’s a whole lot of power to this particular sandwich, which seems fitting for Foster. Given that we’re in the quiet part of the offseason, any recommendations for sandwiches that best suit other players on the 49ers? Yes, I just asked what sandwich best describes a football player. What a time to be alive!
